At Kalymnos and Friends Charity we believe education is a fundamental human right, and it is important to encourage awareness in order to further the quality and access of education in our society. Access to education is for all regardless of colour, race, religion, gender or political belief and we aim to help further access to education and improve the current education system and methods through fundraising efforts.
Our Aims are to:
- To fundraise money for underprivileged schools.
- To provide aid relief in the education sector for global tragedies.
- Assist in the development of education systems in third world countries.
We also promote multi-culturalism and recommend people become members for their passion in helping make education accessible to everyone.
The name ‘Kalymnos’ itself, derives from an island located in the Aegean Sea that is home to the background of many of the founding members of the group.
Historically the locals of Kalymnos are known for their pioneering efforts in the maritime industry which found many of them travelling to seaports around the world. Through these endeavors an exchange of knowledge and wisdom resulted in both a deeper understanding of other cultures and several of the locals becoming leaders and educators in their respected fields around the world.
