The Adelaide Veterinary Students Association (AVSA) was established in 2008 by the inaugural Adelaide University vet students. The association is based at the Universities’ Roseworthy campus and is run by students with the aim of promoting and maintaining student welfare and to provide education on aspects of the veterinary field that are not covered by the curriculum.
AVSA has hosted a number of social events over the past six years that promote the interactions of all year levels, staff and members of the veterinary community. Such annual events that are run for members and the wider campus community, include a Barn Dance, Vet Ball, Quiz Night and Pubcrawl, and 2013 marked the inaugural Roseworthy Revue, which serves as a creative outlet for staff and students to express their experiences on campus. Other events hosted by AVSA include those which allow the student body to experience and broaden their knowledge surrounding the professional field of veterinarians. These include 'Lunch and Learn' lectures with free pizza, which are free to all members, and Industry Night where representatives from a number of veterinary and scientific based companies share their expertise on their chosen field.
Club memberships are $30 (annually) for new members and $25 for returning members, and includes a show bag of sponsorship merchandise and discounted entry to selected AVSA events.
Being an AVSA member is an important part of Vet student life and purchasing membership is strongly encouraged.
To become a member of AVSA you can use the "Join" button (at the top of this page) or email us for current opening hours of the AVSA office, which is located next to the AUU office on the Roseworthy Campus.
