Course & Academic Advice

Students are responsible for enrolling correctly and any amendments to enrolment.

It is important that all students should know about their degree by reading the Program Rules in the University Calendar .

Course outlines for each subject should give more detailed descriptions of the content, mode of delivery and assessment involved and will be given out at the beginning of each semester. Check these first before seeking further advice!

Most Faculties have Course Advisors who will be able to give advice about how a subject/course fits into a degree, and the implications of withdrawing or amending as it relates to academic record and completing a degree, or entrance to another degree/program. Transfer into another degree may involve a new application to SATAC.  In some cases, your Tertiary Entrance score from Year 12 can be used again if you haven't done more than a total full year in your current degree.

Questions regarding variations to enrolment and how this affects Centrelink entitlements should be directed to CENTRELINK: but students may seek advice from the Education and Welfare Officers (EWOs) who have relevant expertise.

Questions about the academic content and assessment should be directed in the first instance to the lecturer in charge or course coordinator.

Complaints about the conduct or content of a course or queries about marks should preferably be directed in the first instance to the lecturer in charge or course coordinator, but students are free at any stage of an actual or potential complaint/dispute to seek advice and representation from the EWOs.
