The Employment Service

Adelaide University Union Employment Service aims to provide expert, up-to-date employment assistance and information to students of Adelaide University in a friendly and professional manner.

Our services for students include

  • Employment Service job database advertising current employment & volunteering vacancies
  • a range of employment development and work preparation seminars and workshops
  • casual employment resume and cover letter review
  • advice and assistance with work related issues i.e. pay, tax and super.

Service Eligibility

Currently enrolled students and recent graduates (graduating within the past 12 months) are eligible for all services. Recent graduates and alumni more than 12 months out have ongoing access to Career Services via Career Hub email them on careers@adelaide.edu.au.

Casual Position
 
The Burnside Hospital is currently seeking a cook/catering attendant to be part of our catering team.
A vacancy exists for a casual cook/catering attendant, primarily the position will be as a catering attendant but when the chefs are on leave you will be required to fill their role and roster rotation this will entail working full-time hours.  You will be required to work over a seven day roster working early and evening shifts.
 
The roles of this position are as follows:
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
 
  • Holds or intends to pursue a Food Handling Course. 
 
Essential Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge:
 
  • Recent experience in a catering field and understanding of up to date food handling and hygiene standards.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • To be able to adapt to existing menu rotation and catering procedures.
  • Ability to communicate (written and verbal) in English.
  • Able to form and maintain effective and harmonious working relations within the work environment.
  • Good customer service skills.
 
 
You will be required to relieve the Theatre Catering Attendant to cover leave periods.
