Philosophy
A number of faculties have clubs and societies that are connected to that particular field of study. The oldest club at Adelaide University is a faculty club, highlighting the important contribution to student life of faculty-based clubs.
The connection between the club and the department does vary, but generally faculty clubs are sanctioned and promoted by the relevant department as a great way to enhance your study.
Some clubs offer you a chance to socialize with other people from the same area of study, taking a break from the tense atmosphere of the tutorial room or lecture theatre.
Others might offer academic assistance, providing the next generation of students with cheap secondhand textbooks, or helping hem learn through tutoring from jaded Honours and PhD students.
Finally, faculty clubs are often helpful in the area of career counseling and development, helping you get in touch with the leading businesses and organizations in your field of study.
You cannot lose joining a faculty club. Whether you're a second or third year seeking new friends, or a first year anxious about the transition from high school, faculty clubs are a great component of university life.
