The Adelaide University Choral Society is a student run choir comprised of 80 students, staff and alumni from all faculties of Adelaide University and other tertiary institutions.
AUCS performs two to three concerts a year, encompassing a wide range of music from large orchestral works, smaller a capella concerts, pop and rock Fringe shows with bands to masses, madrigals and symphonic works. But music is only one half of the society - AUCS takes pride in a busy social schedule, which includes camps, pubcrawls and dinners.
AUCS celebrated its 50th year in 2010 with a host of social and musical events, including an Easter Festival attended by over 80 enthusiastic university choristers from around Australia. Celebrations continued with a performance of Mozart's Requiem to over 800 people in St Peter's Cathedral.
Since then AUCS has performed such works as Vivaldi's Gloria, Faure's Requiem, Orff's Carmina Burana, Haydn's Nelson Mass, and Handel's coronation music. We have also put on four sold-out pop-rock shows at the Adelaide Fringe.
AUCS is open to people of all ages and all levels of musical experience.
