Degree and year of study?
3rd Year Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering
What inspired you to engage with the office and role(s) you currently hold?
I wanted to ensure that student voices were heard and for the board to focus on relevant student issues rather than politics. I’m also keen to improve student services and engagement with students. I want students to know what services there are available for different aspects of uni life. Representing female voices on the board would be another key point because currently, the majority of the board members are male.
What Clubs are you involved with at UofA?
Adelaide University Korean Students’ Association
What led you to join the club(s)?
The major reason I wanted to start up this club was to meet more Koreans around Adelaide and in the uni. Also, I wanted to share Korean culture with those who are interested and a future goal for this club would be to teach Korean.
Favourite holiday destination/activity?
Anywhere it snows would be fantastic, and I would probably go skiing (someone please teach me how to snowboard). Other than that, staying home and playing games.
Favourite place to study on campus?
I usually go to Ingkarni Wardli to study as the computers there have the all programs I need to access. The Fix Lounge is a great place to relax.
What do you hope to achieve in your office and role(s) in 2019?
As the Clubs Committee Chair for this year, I would like to build engagement with clubs, encourage clubs to have bigger events and have more collaborations with the AUU and the University, as well as create a more efficient clubs committee, and a less political board. If possible, I will aim to improve student services and encourage more students to engage with the AUU.
What advice would you give to students starting out at the University of Adelaide?
Don't stress out! You'll get through and before you know it you'll be done with first year. Especially in first year, there are so many ways you can get help. There's the Maths Learning Centre and the Writing Centre. Make sure you utilise these and don't forget that us student representatives will always be around to help you.
