WHAT ARE STUDENT ELECTIONS?
Election week takes place once a year. It’s when students get to have a say in who represents them. There’s elections for the board of the Adelaide University Union (who run O’Week and provide services like Student Care), the Student Representative Council (your voice on campus!), and NUS. All students at the University get to vote, and it lets you shape the future of your uni experience!
HOW DO YOU RUN?
All that’s required is for students to nominate themselves for a position when the election is called.
- Nominations will open at TBD.
- Nomination forms will be available online
- If you are unable to register online, manual nomination forms can be obtained from AUU reception at North Tce, Waite and Roseworthy
WHAT IS THE CRITERIA FOR NOMINATION?
You need to be currently enrolled as a student of the University of Adelaide and a member of the Adelaide University Union. Some positions have extra requirements: for example, directors of the Union board must be over 18, and the SRC Women’s Officer must be a woman.
WHY YOU SHOULD VOTE.
The Adelaide University Union and the SRC provide services on campus that can have a huge effect on your time at uni. The elections let students have a direct say in how these services are run and what they stand for.
HOW DO YOU VOTE?
During election week, there will be polling booths on the Barr Smith Lawns and out the front of the Hub. There will also be booths at Roseworthy and Waite campuses. Drop by one of these booths (and make sure you have your student ID card), and you can vote there.
WHO ARE THE CANDIDATES?
You can find out more information about the people running for election on the election website. You can also talk to the people in the colourful shirts during election week, or look online.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?
Was there an event or a campaign that you really liked? Something amazing you discovered on student radio? Then you can vote for someone who’s going to do more of that. Also, you get a sticker that tells people you’ve already voted, and who doesn’t want that?
