Hamish Probert

Degree and year of study?

Masters of Global Food and Agri Business, 1st year

What inspired you to engage with the office and role(s) you currently hold?

I felt that student unions have often gotten caught up with politics instead of focusing on our campus. I feel that my voice would provide a different perspective and help keep the discussions revolving how we can better our campus for all students.

What Clubs are you involved with at UofA?

I’m an active member of the University Liberal club as well as being a member of the Pride club.

What led you to join the club(s)?

I wanted to meet like-minded students and get involved in the social side of university.

Favourite holiday destination/activity?

4WD and exploring the Flinders Rangers has to be one of my favourite holiday destinations as nothing beats its feeling of freedom.

Favourite place to study on campus?

My favourite place to study would have to be the hub. Whilst it’s not inducive to study it’s a great place to study whilst catching up with my mates.

What do you hope to achieve in your office and role(s) in 2020?

I hope to work with the Pride club to continue making the UofA a safe and welcoming space for all LGBTQI+ students. I aim to keep the SRC focused on our students to ensure that you can receive better amenities on campus.

What advice would you give to students starting out at the University of Adelaide?

I could not recommend putting you phone away and engaging with classmates any higher. I would also tell you to sign up to clubs and get involved as you will not regret it. University is more than just your GPA it’s the friends you make along the way.
