Name: Baie Perryman

Preferred Name: Baie

Degree and year of study?

I’m in my second year of a Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Arts with a major in Psychology.

What inspired you to engage with the office and role(s) you currently hold?

In my first year of university I have discovered that my experience as a rural student is often different to students who come from the city. I am passionate about improving supports for rural students, and especially the initial adjustment to university life.

What Clubs are you involved in with the AUU?

  •        Law School Society
  •        Adelaide University Snow Ski Club

What led you to join the club(s)?

All law students are automatically members of the Law School Society, and I joined the Snow Ski Club because I was super excited for the ski trip, but unfortunately this didn’t go ahead!

Favourite holiday destination/activity?

I’m an avid snowboarder so anywhere with snow works for me!

Favourite place to study on campus?

I love The Hub – there’s a good balance of hustle and bustle so my mind doesn’t go numb when I’m halfway through a reading, but then I can easily chuck some earphones in and get into the zone.

What do you hope to achieve in your office and role(s) in 2021?

I hope to be able to support rural students relocating to the city for study, but I am also super excited to connect with students from the rural campuses in order to properly represent the whole student body.

What advice would you give to students starting out at the University of Adelaide?
Put yourself out there! As much as studying hard is important, the memories you want from uni are with friends.
