Name:

Liam Johns

Degree and year of study?

I am technically in my third year of university, but only in the second semester of my current degree -- a Bachelor of Economics (Advanced).

What inspired you to engage with the office and role(s) you currently hold?

Having studied from Strathalbyn for a number of years, I came to the conclusion that our university is inaccessible for regional students and that we lack proper representation on campus.

What Clubs are you involved in with the AUU?

I am a committee member of Secular Club, Tea Club, and the Adelaide University Greens Club.

What led you to join the club(s)?

For some clubs I joined as a favour to my friends, and for others I joined because I am interested in their events. In particular, though, I got involved in the Greens club because I agree with their principles and am passionate about the issues they fight against.

Favourite holiday destination/activity?

I've never really been on a holiday, but I'd love to see the snow!

Favourite place to study on campus?

Level 2 Barr Smith South is a favourite - it is usually very quiet, leading to some productive study.

What do you hope to achieve in your office and role(s) in 2022?

As Rural Officer, I hope to improve educational accessibility for regional students and advocate for those studying at the Roseworthy and Waite campuses.

What advice would you give to students starting out at the University of Adelaide?
Speaking from experience, don't live in regional Australia - it HURTS your studies a lot, particularly if you have to juggle part-time work or other commitments.
