Women's Officer

Rebecca Etienne

Name: Rebecca Etienne

Preferred Name: You can just call me Beck!

Degree and year of study?

Bachelor of Psychological Science, 3rd year.

What inspired you to engage with the office and role(s) you currently hold?

What inspired me was the community. The students I get to work with and advocate for, the events I volunteer for – every little action counts toward something great, which is our community!

What Clubs are you involved with at UofA?

UofA Womens Collective, Psychology Students Association, PRIDE Club

What led you to join the club(s)?

My sheer passion for getting stuff done with like-minded people! But really, what each club represents in the Uni community is something that I really care about and am proud to be a part of.

Favourite holiday destination/activity?

Sipping a hot chocolate in Maastricht is LITERALLY one of the best feelings in the world. So, definitely give it a go! Also works with coffee and tea.

Favourite place to study on campus?

My favourite place to study on campus is outside Union House!

What do you hope to achieve in your office and role(s) in 2020?

This year, I aim to further the Safety on Campus campaign, as it continues to be a subject of importance. I also aim to work with the UofA Women’s Collective, Catherine House, Shine SA and other organisations to help spread awareness to the issues that affect women and work together to combat them. Lastly, I hope to bring more life into the Anna Menz Women’s Room, to ensure that there is a safe, welcoming space for women to go to be inspired and to be themselves.

What advice would you give to students starting out at the University of Adelaide?

Experience as much as you can! Say yes to that party, say yes to that study group. Try ALL the uni foods. Make friends. Study hard. The University of Adelaide will be home for the next few years.... make it count!
