RECRUITING STUDENTS

We are a family seeking students to become a support worker and mentor for our 12 year old son who has Autism (ASD).

NO EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY
(however, experience working with children is helpful)

Ideally, suitable candidates will have the following qualities:

1) Be agile, fit and energetic.

2) Have excellent child playing skills, are extroverted and be able to lead and mentor.

3) Be willing to work flexible hours especially after school hours on certain weekdays (from 3 to 8.30pm, varying on the day and activity planned) and during the day on weekends. Normally sessions are for approximately 2-3 hours per session.

4) Be firm, a leader but have a caring nature.

5) Excellent communication skills and English skills.

This would especially suit students with a background (but not necessary nor exclusive) in psychology, occupational therapy, speech pathology, physiotherapy, disability studies, teaching.

All year levels of students encouraged to apply.

You may be required to work closely with or under recommendations from our psychologist, occupational therapist, speech pathologist and other educational professionals- and you will gain excellent practical experience in working with a child with a disability.

Minimum $35 per hour- awards are based on individual skill levels and experience.
