Being a Bush Action Team volunteer is a rewarding, and practical way to help your local environment. We look after SA’s native bushland by removing isolated weeds that compete for space and resources so that our bushland can regenerate naturally. We have over 300 bushland sites across the state and we offer ongoing training and support to our volunteers.

How can I get involved as a volunteer?

The day’s activities run from 9am to 3.30pm, with a morning tea and lunch break. You can take our bus from our office at Brooklyn Park or from pick up points, or you make your own way to the sites.

You get to work alongside friendly volunteers who are passionate about caring for our bushland as well as 2 fully trained staff members, providing a great opportunity to learn more about our natural environment.

All our activitiesare suitable for anybody who is in general good health. There is no heavy work, but there is bending and squatting involved as well as walking a short distance to the site over uneven ground. Please be aware that we will be visiting bushland sites, often without shops and toilets nearby (though often there will be bus runs to the nearest public toilet during the day).

What to bring? You will need to wear long pants, long sleeves, hat and sturdy enclosed footwear and bring your own lunch, morning tea and water. We supply equipment and safety gear.
