The event: LASA National Congress is the largest age services event in the southern hemisphere. It is the place where leading edge thinkers and providers meet to challenge their assumptions and open their horizons to new ideas and approaches. With an attendance of 1200 people, the LASA National Congress primarily attracts high-level industry executives including Chief Executive Officers, Chief Operating Officers, Chief Financial Officers, Board Directors, Business Development and Sales Managers, Directors of Nursing, policy makers, academics and thought-leaders from across the broader age services industry.

The LASA National Congress has over 40 educational sessions, over 85 speakers, 130+ trade exhibitors and sponsors, and multiple networking opportunities.  

The role: We are inviting applications from University and Tafe Students to join a small, dedicated team of energetic and driven professionals. Hit the ground running and assist with the delivery of LASA’s National Congress 2018, Australasia’s largest age services event. Interns will provide support to the LASA Events Team over the three day event.

Location: Adelaide Convention Centre

Key responsibilities:

  • Greet delegates, exhibitors, speakers and sponsors
  • Assist on the registration desk
  • Conference Room Usher duties
  • Microphone duties
  • Other duties as required

Time Commitment: The Congress runs across three days with the following shifts available;

  • Sunday 28 Oct: 1pm – 5pm (nibbles provided)
  • Monday 29 Oct: 10.00am – 3.00pm (lunch provided)
  • Tuesday 30 Oct: 10.00am – 12.30pm (lunch provided)

Reports to: LASA Events Team

What you will need to succeed:

  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Demonstrated time management skills
  • Reliability
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic IT skills

What you will gain from this role:

  • Gain industry work experience volunteering for Australasia’s largest age services event. Students completing work-integrated practical assessment can earn hours from volunteering at this event
