Hi, my name is Alicia Turner and I'm running to be one of your General Councillors with UNITE.

We students as a collective face a crisis as the university proposes faculty mergers, staff cuts and "rationalising" underperforming courses in response to its current financial challenges, all avenues that can only lead to our detriment as the education we pay generously for is run into the ground. We need a strong team of student representatives now more than ever to advocate for all of us and ensure that we as a student body come out the other side with the least possible consequences for our education.

While this is happening, the IPCC climate report has reminded us of the pressing need to fight climate change. It is not a potentiality, but a must that the university turn to more sustainable practices and resources.

As one of your representatives, I will fight to prevent this ridiculous mismanagement of our education and our futures. I will fight to ensure the university plays its part in reversing the climate crisis.

Now is the time for change, and UNITE will make it happen. Vote for the UNITE team on the AUU and SRC!
