Hi I'm Matt (they/them), and I'm running for AUU Board.

In order to thrive at University, students need an inclusive environment and a community that supports and inspires them. The Adelaide University Union provides so many vital services for all students to enjoy, and enriches university life. Without these services, students. These services must be maintained, improved and expanded upon to provide students the best possible University experience. 

In my time as a Board Director, I’ve seen the AUU fail to take a strong and principled stance in the face of a University that wants to cut staff, reduce courses and destroy campus culture. Watching the AUU abdicate its responsibilities as a student union and activist body has driven me to fight for change.

A student union like the AUU should be actively fighting for the students it represents, taking a stand against the university when they put their profit before their students. It’s time our AUU stood up and actually acted like a union for the students of Adelaide University. If elected, I’d be honoured to begin the process of returning the AUU to a true student union.
