My name is Olivia Papagni and I’m running to be your 2022 Disability Officer with Grassroots!

As someone whose studies have been impacted by their medical conditions, I often rely on an Access Plan. I have found, however, that it is difficult for students with disabilities (particularly those that aren’t visible) to access such assistance. It is even harder for those of us that cannot afford to get an official diagnosis.

If elected, I will fight for the university to:

• Allow university counsellors to organise Access Plans, not just medical doctors or psychologists; 
• Make Access Plans available to students who cannot afford a diagnosis OR do not fit enough mental health diagnostic criteria but are still impacted; and
• Allow Access Plans to last longer than a semester if required, particularly for students with chronic health conditions that will impact their studies long-term.
