Hi, I am Chanel and I’m running for General Councillor.

I believe our university needs representatives who hold its executives to account. It is unacceptable that our university has had instances of sexual assault and general misconduct within both the student body, University staff and it’s executive. No one on campus should feel unsafe or uncomfortable, period. To that end, our university must demonstrate its commitment to student safety and wellbeing by increasing funding for sexual violence training programs.

Additionally, after the 2020 sexual assault scandal regarding our previous disgraced VC Peter Rathjen, The University of Adelaide gave him a 300k payout, despite cutting staff hours and salaries.

Thus, if elected I will strive to reap justice for those who feel hurt or unheard by their previous student and executive representatives, while also striving to secure further funding for prevention trainings and trainings regarding responses to sexual violence.
