Candidate for the position of SRC Environment Officer

"If we do not halt our emissions soon, our future climate could well become some kind of hell on earth”. The latest IPCC report confirms capitalism = climate catastrophe. We face a booming fossil fuel industry, rising oceans and increasing temperatures. Urgent action is needed now.

I’m Left Action’s candidate for Environment Officer because I think the SRC should be leading the fight for climate justice. Unfortunately, this year, this hasn’t happened. The right-wing majority has refused to support climate activism and applauded the university for its supposed sustainability.

I’m a proud activist who has helped organise student climate strikes both in Scotland and here in Adelaide, as well as protests against nuclear waste. We need to mobilise if we want to change the situation. We can’t rely on politicians, student hacks or Ecoversity’s corporate greenwashing. They’re part of the problem.

I want to help lead campaigns to break ties with fossil fuels, starting right here at Adelaide Uni. As your Environment Officer in 2022 I will engage students to help win a better future.

Vote [1] Left Action for an SRC that fights on the frontlines of the climate emergency.
